I’ve always loved the way inverted imagery looks but felt I needed a good reason for incorporating it into my paintings. When I started exploring alternate realities, I realized I could utilize inversion as a way to illustrate multiple worlds at once. Also, it is a good analogy for parallel dimensions. Everything is the same, but experienced from another perspective.

It’s interesting that you used this way to express alternate realities. There are some nights when I wake up from a nightmare and have visions of things in my room while still startled, and sometimes these visions are like afterimages, image burn-ins, they are there wherever I look, like when you look at something for a few minutes than look to a white surface and see that thing, but in negative. It’s like something from my dreams have burned my retinas. Sometimes there are faces, or scribbles, written things. But always in negative.

I talked about this to a friend and she said it happened to her also, even when awake, she once say a snake curled up around her bed, and it was also saw in negative colors, her boyfriend could see it too.

Maybe it’s indeed how things from another dimension are shown to us.
